With the recent collapse of Satyam (disclaimer: not fully bankrupt, just not enough money to pay for monthly wages as I write this), this leads to an interesting question:
Where is your IT department?
This highlights one of the risks of outsourcing, which is things outside your control. Sure you’re getting a 10% cost saving over having your IT department year-on-year, but what about when your outsourcing company that’s 10 times the size of your company collapses.
Well it’s a bit too late to be thinking of this stuff now. Your contingency plan should be kicking in. You’ve got one right?
