I'd focus on managing relationships, 20% of being a Project Manager is Microsoft Project and Prince2 things, the other 80% is people. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pmbok" rel="nofollow">PMBOK</a> is another good one to glance at if you're interested. For projects there’s always Prince2 to follow a standardised pattern for projects, but that’s rarely the problem spot.
